Heavy Equipment Operator Training

The Tribal Labor Advisory Committee (TLAC) offered Heavy Equipment Operator training in October 2017.

Following a rigorous review of 30 applications, the 12 candidates selected were:

  • Michael Belisle - St. Croix Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians
  • William Chapman - Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians
  • Michael Chevalier - Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin
  • Chris Cornelius - Oneida Nation
  • Ned Daniels - Forest County Potawatomi Community
  • Channing DeVerney - Little River Band of Ottawa Indians
  • Tanya Manuelito - Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians
  • Frank Miller, Sr. - Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians
  • Brennen Potack - Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians
  • Michael Quaderer - Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians
  • Arthur Teschner, Jr. - Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians
  • Tina Webster - Oneida Nation

For three weeks, the participants worked with front-end loaders, graders, excavators and other equipment. They visited Nortrax in Merrill, and Ponsse North America and Musson Brothers in Rhinelander. The group also studied electromechanical fundamentals and fabrication.

The 12 applicants selected all successfully completed the coursework and received their certificates. They endured time away from their families, long days in the classroom and in the field, and bonded as they shared one goal – to complete the program.
